Ingredients
#

  • 1 bottle Merlot, Zinfandel or Grenache wine
  • 2 small orange, or 1 large orange
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 2 tbsp real maple syrup
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1/4 fresh whole cranberries

Directions
#

  1. If using 2 oranges, slice one into rounds and the other in half. Else slice the one large orange in half, then slice one half into rounds.
  2. Place the orange rounds into the bottom of a medium heavy pot and slice in the juice from the remaining orange.
  3. Pour the wine into the pot, followed by the brandy. Add the maple syrup, cinnamon sticks, cloves and cranberries.
  4. Warm mixture over medium heat until steaming. Once you see tiny bubbles, reduce heat to low.
  5. If the wine isn’t spicy enough, continue cooking over low heat for 5 - 10 more minutes.
  6. Serve in mugs.
