Ingredients

Casserole

  • 1 loaf challah or brioche bread
  • 8 eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Topping
#

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Directions

This casserole can be made up to 2 days in advance and kept in the refrigerator.
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cube bread into 1 inch pieces, then spread in the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish.
  3. Whisk together remaining casserole ingredients and pour over bread, making sure to everything soaked.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the topping ingredients.
  5. Spread or layer over the casserole.
  6. Bake for 50 - 55 minutes until set and the top is golden.
